Leonard E. Peters

The Firm's founder, Mr. Peters was appointed by Governor Abbott to serve as the Presiding Judge of the 492nd Judicial District Court in Colorado and Lavaca Counties, effective September 1, 2026.  As such, Mr. Peters is no longer taking new clients and will be leaving the Firm as the Canons of Judicial Ethics do not allow a Presiding District Judge to engage in private practice. Mr. Peters will be missed! The entire office wishes him all the best in this new stage of his practice of the law.

Michael K. Peters

Michael Peters obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, graduating summa cum laude with honors from the John M. Harlan Society, in 2015. While at St. Mary's, he served on the St. Mary's Law Journal. He was admitted to practice law in Texas in November of that same year. Since becoming licensed Michael Peters has primarily practiced family law. In 2025 Michael was honored to be voted the Favorite Attorney among the readers of the Colorado County Citizen. Michael Peters serves as the Associate Municipal Judge of Columbus, Texas and sits on the Board of Directors of the Columbus Historic Preservation Trust, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to the preservation of Columbus's unique history.

Michael married his wife, Tiffany, in May 2017 and they have two daughters and a son, Katie, Alice, and Isaac.
